Residential Care

The nursing home and hostel are both fully accredited with The Aged Care Standards and Accreditation Agency, and meet Commonwealth Government certification requirements.

As part of an $18 million redevelopment our nursing homes were rebuilt over a 3 year period from 2002.  The KT Swinton Hostel was rebuilt in 2006, and three further hostels are currently being refurbished and should be completed by 2008.

Nursing Home

Nursing home care is provided from two discrete units, each comprising three separate wings:

· Audrey Prider Centre—45 dementia specific beds

· Lake Lodge—40 beds

Accommodation within both units is primarily in single en-suited rooms.  All nursing home residents have access to secure courtyards and gardens.

Hostel

Hostel care is provided in six small, intimate stand alone units all of which have their own dining room and lounges.  The size of each hostel wing is 14 to 15 beds. A large communal area is available for group activities and is currently being refurbished to include a theatrette.  A room has been dedicated to our Men’s Group for activities such as playing pool, and watching sporting events on pay television.

General care—86 beds

Dementia specific care—27 beds

All hostel rooms are single bedrooms with full en-suite facilities. Unsurpassed views of the Hopkins River are a feature of many of the rooms.

A dementia specific hostel has been specifically designed to meet the needs of this particular client group and is adjacent to pakland and overlooks the Hopkins River.  This hostel provides secure accommodation in a homelike environment, and access to protected gardens and quiet sitting areas.  All bedrooms are single rooms with individual or joint en-suites.
