The KT Swinton Hostel consists of two wings - East and West, which offer hotel style accommodation with each room having its own ensuite and modern furnishings. There are 44 rooms in total with an additional room designated for respite clients.
Outside of their rooms, residents, their families and friends are at any time free to use the warm and relaxing lounge areas which incorporate tea and coffee making facilities, the balcony areas, and the picturesque grounds. There are separate dining areas in each wing where meals are served, with a tray service offered in residents' rooms when needed.
The KT Swinton Hostel accommodation is designed for those people assessed as having low care needs. This implies that the resident is able to assist with their daily care needs in some way, and is able to mobilise fairly independently.
We assist our residents to age in place; meaning we strive to accommodate changes in care needs from the one facility. KT Swinton Hostel staff are committed to supporting people to maintain their existing relationships and social networks.
Residents are encouraged to participate in regular social activities and outings, to spend time getting to know other residents, and to enhance their friendship networks. Family and friends are welcome to visit and join in any offered activities or just share a meal in a private area. An area in KT Swinton Hostel East is designated for Lifestyle Activities and all residents are welcome to attend any of the planned programs held there, or to just watch TV at their leisure.
We offer cooking, exercise programs, reminiscing, reading, bingo and many other activities. These are outlined in weekly planners that are available in the lounge area. Swinton Hostel also has our 'It's Never 2 Late' program which is an interactive computer based system that provides activities to enhance knowledge bases, expand companionship circles and share life experiences.
In addition to this, the KT Swinton Hostel also has spa facilities that are available for residents to use enabling them to relax in private.
In order for Lyndoch Living to provide quality of care we encourage comments, suggestions and constructive criticism. So to this end we have monthly Resident Meetings in where we encourage residents to provide feedback or discuss any areas of concern. Family members are also most welcome to attend.
