The Carer Support Group is aimed at providing support and information for carers of someone with dementia.
The Carer Support Group meets on the third Thursday of the month in the “Carers’ Room” which overlooks the Hopkins River. Meetings are informal over morning tea and attendance is free.
The Carer Support Group is facilitated by a qualified Social Worker who is experienced in dealing with the challenging situations that carers may face on daily basis. The group itself is comprised of carers at all stages of caring. Those participating in the support group are benefited through the:
Sharing of experiences and knowledge
Learning of practical and useful tips on how to manage certain situations
Accessing of a network of people who are caring for someone in a similar situation
Access to information regarding additional support services available
Access of up-to-date information regarding current issues and training opportunities
