Stimulation, routine and meaningful activity for people living with memory loss
The Day Centre is a State Government funded planned activity group, which provides innovative and stimulating group activities and respite for carers of people with dementia or memory loss. Respite is provided in a fun, friendly and secure environment and runs Monday to Friday 10:00am – 3:30pm, plus every 4th Saturday.
Clients participate in a diverse range of structured activities and outings aimed at addressing their individual interests and needs. Activities are provided by qualified Diversional Therapists and include:
- exercise programs
- brain gym
- cooking
- men’s group
- bus outings
- craft
- games
- gardening
- entertainment
- music
Our experienced staff are trained in working with people who have dementia and delivering quality care that aims to maintain an individual’s independence.
Transportation can be arranged to and from the Day Centre. Taxis collect clients from their homes at 9:45am and return them between 3:30pm and 4:00pm.
To access the Day Centre program, referrals are accepted from any source, including the client, their carer, General Practitioner, or other health service providers. If preferred, referrals may be directed to us using the Service Coordination Tool Template (SCTT).
On acceptance of a referral the Day Centre Coordinator will meet with clients and their carer to assess their needs and suitability to the program. Attendance to the day centre will attract a small fee to contribute to the cost of activities.
