Change was definitely the theme presented at the Annual General Meeting of South West Victoria’s premier care provider, Lyndoch Living, held on Tuesday 4th October. “Remaining locally owned, independent, and responsive to the needs of the community has required significant changes to the organisation and the way in which we deliver care.” Board President David Atkinson said.
Key changes within in the industry were identified at the meeting as, a reduction in demand for our bed based services, a rapidly increasing demand for in-home and community based services, and shifting Government priorities. These changes are obviously influencing the demographic of those currently in receipt of care, as Mr Atkinson highlighted “15% of new residents and clients this past year were younger than 65 years of age – which is a continuing and major shift from our traditional roots.”
The changes embraced by Lyndoch have been directly signposted by the launch of the organisation’s new marketing strategy, with the adoption of a new brand, organisational colours, plus revised Vision and Mission Statements. Mr Atkinson reflected that, “The adoption of Lyndoch Living as our brand was a natural progression for the organisation as it succinctly captured the essence of what we are, and what we aspire to be in the future.”
Another solid financial result was posted by the organisation, reporting a very healthy consolidated surplus of $1,013,332 for the year. “Our ability to self-fund equipment and facility upgrades and to establish new services can only happen as a result of our solid financial position being maintained.” Mr Atkinson said.
Mr Atkinson commented on the necessity of the proposed redevelopment of the Retirement Village to move forward, if Lyndoch was to continue on this path of financial strength. “The community should be comforted by the fact that Lyndoch has a solid financial platform from which to launch this major development; and from the fact that we continue to operate successfully in a very volatile and competitive market.” Mr Atkinson said.
Mr Atkinson congratulated the staff for their continued dedication and commitment, and their ability to work the fine line of delivering excellent services to our residents, clients and tenants, whilst at the same time maintaining a very keen focus that assures Lyndoch’s viability and continued future.
