WEDNESDAY 23rd NOVEMBER
Residents of Lyndoch Living will see the dirt moving on an extension to the Audrey Prider Centre and Lake Lodge nursing homes. This exciting addition will be home to a new service for the residents and families of our nursing homes, to be known as the Palliative Care Overnight Family Stay Service.
Made possible through the allocation of grant monies from the Commonwealth Government as part of the Local Palliative Care Grant Program and Lyndoch Living reserves, the new space will be used for the purpose of providing specific and discreet care services to nursing home residents requiring advanced palliative care.
“We are very pleased to commence construction on this project that will provide a vital service to the residents of our nursing homes and the local community.” Acting Chief Executive Officer, Helen Bacon said.
The new facility will be built directly between the Audrey Prider Centre and Lake Lodge to allow access and use from both residences. The facility will also incorporate amenities for family members wanting to spend extended periods of time in close proximity with their loved ones during the later stages of palliation.
“Throughout construction there will be no interruption to the high quality care and services we currently provide for our nursing home residents.” Acting Director of Nursing, Julie Baillie commented.
The tender for construction has been granted to BDH Construction and works are set to commence this Friday 25th. Included as part of the construction will be a fit out of equipment appropriate and conducive to the delivery of late stage palliative care.
It is anticipated that construction will be completed by late February to early March 2012, with the service to be operational shortly thereafter.
