Hospitality collaboration serving up opportunity

A new collaboration between Lyndoch Living and WestVic Group Training is improving the quality of service to Lyndoch residents and providing opportunity to up-and-coming hospitality students to further their careers.

The pilot program involves four WestVic hospitality trainees delivering food service to Lyndoch residents, a role that has traditionally been carried out by personal care workers.

Lyndoch CEO Doreen Power said there are positives for all involved.

“This program, whilst providing invaluable on-the-job experience to the WestVic Group trainees, also benefits our residents and staff as it frees our personal care workers up to focus on their primary job of caring for our residents.

“Residents are able to enjoy the experience of trained wait staff delivering consistent, high quality food service, whilst at the same time receiving the utmost care from their personal care workers,” Ms Power said.

Westvic Staffing Solutions, through their Group Training arm, will contract the students to Lyndoch Living for the duration of the partnership.

Ms Power said that Lyndoch Living prides itself on its wide array of community partnerships, and that staff and residents alike were delighted to welcome the trainees to the team.
