Congratulations to Bruce and Faye, who are still giggling!

Lyndoch Village Hub residents Bruce and Faye are still as giggly around each other as they were 50 years ago.

Bruce and Faye were all set to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary surrounded by family and friends. But, unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 lockdowns, they have had to postpone their big celebration not once but now twice!

The pair met after being set up on a blind date by their friends. Their first date was to the drive-in movies, where they instantly connected. Not long after, they got married, with Bruce saying it was one of the wettest days he has ever experienced. “Firstly, my best man fell over and slid through a huge puddle. Then Faye was late to the wedding, and so that her dress didn’t get ruined, she had to be carried into the church.”

Despite these hiccups, they can sit back and laugh all about it now, which is one of the reasons for their long and happy marriage. They have built a beautiful family having three daughters and two granddaughters who they love to spoil.

One of their fondest memories together was in 1971 when they decided to buy a caravan to go travelling. Setting off on their adventure, they were awoken to the noise of dripping water from a leak in the roof right above the bed on their first night. The next day, they continued on, driving down the highway, when they suddenly heard a strange noise. Pulling over quickly, they realised that one of the wheels had fallen off the van. They had to call the RACV to tow their caravan, so they decided to give up on the trip and return home after all of that. They still laugh about it to this day.

Happy 50th wedding anniversary to you both. We hope you get to celebrate with all your family soon!
