Meet Maryanne: Lyndoch Living’s community respite activities specialist

Shoutout to Lyndoch Living Community Respite Coordinator Maryanne. She has dedicated nearly 18 years to supporting and caring for residents in our community. Born in Germany, Maryanne and her family migrated to Australia in 1950, growing up in regional towns. Maryanne worked in administration, hospitality, cleaning, and wanting a career change, she felt aged care would be rewarding and interesting.

While raising her family and working full time, she completed a Certificate III in Aged Care and Disability and has worked in aged care ever since. Commencing as a Personal Care Worker, Maryanne enjoyed assisting residents throughout the day by making their days more comfortable and enjoyable. Maryanne also completed a Certificate IV in Lifestyle and Leisure after being offered a role to fill in for Lifestyle team members. She has been working in her current role as Community Respite Coordinator in the Lyndoch Day Stay Program for over 14 years.

With programs scheduled four days a week, Maryanne and the Homestead team are responsible for planning exciting activities. The best part of Maryanne’s role is knowing each person has spent the day in good company, eating great food, enjoying activities. “Watching both men and women attending the program and making friends sharing special connections is beautiful to experience.” I work with a great team – we all work well together,” she said.

Outside of work, Maryanne is a fanatical Beatles memorabilia collector and loves gardening. She is a member of the Inner Wheel Club (raising funds for local charities), the Western Victoria Holden Car Club and enjoys country drives in her 1954 FJ Holden. Maryanne used to enjoy pistol shooting and represented both NSW and Victoria in her 20’s and 30’s.
