Meet Lyndoch Living Personal Care Worker Michelle.
After working in disability for over seven years, Michelle felt that she was ready for a change. Still seeking a caring role, Michelle thought that aged care would be the perfect fit. After securing a personal care role within the Lyndoch Living Homestead team, her passion for aged care has grown stronger.
“The feeling you get from helping our ageing community is very rewarding,” Michelle said.
With different programs scheduled each day, ‘no two days are ever the same in the Homestead.’
Michelle’s favourite part of the role is being involved in all of the program’s exciting activities. “Every second Monday, I go out on the bus with the day-trippers group. The group pick somewhere locally to go for lunch, and we spend the day catching up and passing on stories. It’s great fun,” she said. Other activities that Michelle assists with are arts and crafts, pampering sessions, cards, BBQ lunches, and special themed days.
“It is important that we encourage, support and listen to our client’s needs to ensure they get the most out of our programs,” Michelle said.
“In 2021, during COVID 19 lockdowns, the Homestead team had to get creative to ensure clients remained socially connected. Our jobs became about staying connected to clients over the phone and checking in on families. So it was very exciting when we were able to have everybody back in the Homestead.”
Michelle loves walking, socializing, being with family, and going to concerts in her spare time.
Thanks for caring Michelle.
