Lyndoch Living Board announces transparent nominations process

New Board application process an opportunity to revitalise, refresh and bring in new local talent

The Lyndoch Living Board confirms its commitment to conduct a thorough and transparent process in appointing additional members to the Board at this coming year’s Annual General Meeting.

Placing residents and staff at the centre of everything it does, the Board has set about strengthening its composition, commencing an open and independent process to recruit up to three new Directors. This will build on the board’s industry knowledge, strategic thinking and health and aged care experience.

Board President Susan Cassidy said the Board and senior leadership team is entirely focused on embracing the challenge of enhancing the safety and care of its residents and team.

“The Board is united and steadfast in working together to embrace the changes required to improve our services,” said Ms Cassidy.

“We acknowledge there are challenges at Lyndoch Living – headlined by the current significant workforce shortages across the industry – and we are determined to resolve these as quickly as possible for the betterment of our community.”

“By extending our Board, we believe we will add value to the senior leadership team at Lyndoch Living.”

As advised at the 2021 Annual General Meeting, the independent recruitment process will be conducted through a fit and proper governance process. This process is designed to ensure an appropriate mix of experience and skills on the Lyndoch Living Board, and will provide an orderly renewal of Board members.

Lyndoch Living will provide opportunities for interested candidates to ask questions about the independent recruitment process. This process will draw on the services of an independent facilitator and an experienced community leader. Application packs will be provided with Lyndoch Living encouraging all interested candidates to register online.

Interested candidates will be required to submit a formal application to Lyndoch Living and short-listed candidates will be interviewed, with the panel recommendations presented to the Board. Lyndoch Living will provide further details on the process and how to register in coming weeks.

“We recognise we always need to refresh the way we operate and as such we are actively speaking with and listening to stakeholders, current staff, residents, their families and the community to ensure we find the best people join us,” said Ms Cassidy.

“We will run a transparent and clear process, with opportunity for interested candidates to ask questions. I am looking forward to working with the community to attract new people and perspectives to our Board.”

The process is timely as Lyndoch Living Board member, Professor Robert Wallis, has notified the Board of his resignation due to other commitments and increasing demands for his time.  Professor Wallis’ resignation comes into effect from the 2022 Annual General Meeting, after which he will continue to offer his services in a volunteer capacity.

Susan Cassidy thanked Professor Wallis for his dedicated service to the Board and stated she was pleased he will continue to be a part of the Lyndoch community.

“I am pleased Robert will now have the time he needs to dedicate his full attention to his professional and personal commitments, while retaining an ongoing connection and commitment to Lyndoch,” Ms Cassidy said.

Lyndoch Living will formally appoint the three new Board members at its 2022 Annual General Meeting in the coming months.

The independent recruitment process follows the appointment of a refreshed leadership team (also released on Wednesday 7 September) which builds further momentum on the important work occurring across Lyndoch Living.
