Lyndoch Living today welcomed the Commonwealth Government’s support of 16 additional care and support staff by supplying registered nurses, endorsed enrolled nurses and personal care assistants as part of its COVID-19 surge workforce program and to support the Lyndoch Living team.
The support comes after three Lyndoch Living residents tested positive to COVID-19, with one resident already completing their isolation period after returning a negative result. The other two residents are doing well, have anti-viral medication, are up-to-date with COVID-19 vaccines and are asymptomatic.
The outbreak is isolated to the main Lyndoch Living aged care facility, Swinton on Level 1. Lyndoch Living is closely monitoring the condition of residents across the facility and providing daily updates to the affected residents’ primary contacts.
While no other residents have tested positive, the arrival of the surge workforce team since Sunday 9 October provides support and relief to the Lyndoch Living team to ensure they can continue to provide high-quality care to residents.
Andrew Long, CFO for Lyndoch Living, said this workforce surge will ensure the healthcare needs of all residents are met while supporting Lyndoch staff.
“Our priority is always the safety and care of our residents and team, and the arrival of these additional care staff will ensure we are able to deliver that,” Andrew Long said.
“We are grateful to the Commonwealth and State Governments, who have provided this surge workforce to assist our team and will continue to work closely with them throughout this outbreak.”
The arrival of the surge workforce coincides with the commencement of Lyndoch Living’s new Acting Director of Nursing Anita Plowman. Anita was previously a Nurse Unit Manager at the aged care service. We are grateful for the support of Moyne Health Services who have agreed to release Anita on secondment to support the Lyndoch Living team.
Anita will take over from the previous Acting Director of Nursing Leigh Tannock who will remain with the Lyndoch Living team until Friday 11 November to support the handover, and the care team.
Lyndoch Living remains committed to its residents and encourages the families of any residents who have questions or concerns about the health, safety and care of their loved ones to contact (03) 5557 8888. Lyndoch Living will continue to provide updates to the community in the coming days.
