Lyndoch Living Update – Gastro and COVID-19 outbreak

Lyndoch Living has today confirmed two active outbreaks with 13 resident cases of gastroenteritis (gastro) and six resident cases of COVID-19 recorded at the home.

All 13 resident cases with gastro are located within the Audrey Prider Centre (APC). In response to this, Lyndoch Living has activated its outbreak management plan, increased hygiene measures, and isolated the affected residents.

With regards to COVID-19, Lyndoch Living currently has six active resident cases – four in APC and the remaining two in its Lake Lodge centre.

Two of the positive COVID-19 residents in APC are also infected with gastro – Lyndoch Living is monitoring these residents, and all other infected residents closely. All affected residents are fully vaccinated, receiving anti-viral medication and doing well. The families have been contacted directly and are receiving daily updates.

Lyndoch Living is taking every precaution possible to care for these residents. A complete and thorough cleaning process has been undertaken with all staff continuing to strictly adhere to PPE requirements in order to minimise the risk of further infection.

The local Public Health Unit has been notified of both of the above outbreaks and are providing assistance.

Acting CEO Ted Rayment said the health and wellbeing of all Lyndoch Living residents are the main priority as they work to manage these two outbreaks.

“We remain focused on providing quality care to our residents and supporting our staff,” Ted Rayment said.

“We welcome the support of the Public Health Unit and are also in the process of finalising a surge workforce to ensure that we have adequate resources to care for all our residents and support our team.”
