Lyndoch Living is pleased to announce that a new Chair has been appointed to the Lyndoch Board.
Dr Peter O’Brien comes with an extensive background in health service management and corporate and clinical governance expertise. His clinical background includes general practice, emergency medicine and time spent time in the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
Dr O’Brien completed a Master of Health Administration through the University of New South Wales, graduating in 1994. He also has Fellowships with the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators and the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine. Dr O’Brien worked for many years as the Director of Medical Services at South West Healthcare. He joined the Lyndoch Living Board in October 2022.
Dr O’Brien’s clinical governance experience has been enhanced through his health service accreditation assessor role with training in the assessment of health care organisations for compliance with the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards. Dr O’Brien has undertaken over 70 accreditation assessments throughout Australia. “My knowledge at the national level brings in depth expertise and experience which is imperative to Lyndoch Living’s continuous quality improvement and the monitoring of an expanded set of aged care clinical indicators” explained Dr O’Brien.
Sue Cassidy, outgoing Chair explained that the Board are exceptionally pleased with Dr O’Brien’s appointment during a time of continuous improvement and regeneration for Lyndoch Living.
Ms Cassidy further commented that “adding such a high level of clinical and accreditation expertise to our volunteer Board is a testament to the hard work and organisational improvement that has been undertaken in the past year”.
The Lyndoch Living Board sincerely thanked Ms Cassidy for her tireless efforts over many years. The Board is very pleased that Sue is remaining on the Board ensuring that her experience and wisdom will not be lost.
Dr O’Brien is looking forward to focusing on person centred care, maintaining accreditation and steering the strategic direction of Lyndoch Living towards a sustainable quality aged care service that includes an extensive range of community aged care services to the wider geographical area from Portland to Hamilton and wider Warrnambool areas.
