Meet Sarah, who has recently joined the Lyndoch Living team as an Apprentice Chef.
Before starting her Apprenticeship, Sarah had completed a Diploma in Community Services. However, once she had finished the course, she realised she wanted a more hands-on career that would also allow her to be creative.
So, with extensive hospitality experience, she was inspired to commence a Certificate III in Commercial Cookery. After completing two years of her Apprenticeship at The Cally, Sarah decided she would like to try a different cooking style for her final year.
When Lyndoch advertised for an Apprentice Chef, Sarah thought it would be an excellent opportunity to learn how a large-scale kitchen operates. Sarah has only been working at Lyndoch for a few months and said she has learnt so much already.
“When you’re working in a kitchen of this size, everything is done differently. The quantity of food you produce in a facility like this is much higher, so your prep and portioning are important. It has also been really interesting learning how the different type of equipment works,” said Sarah.
Sarah still loves to spend her spare time cooking and experimenting with different flavours and cuisines outside of work. Even though she enjoys developing Tex Mex and Japanese dishes, baking and creating delicious desserts brings her the most joy.
Sarah is excited to continue learning from the Lyndoch Living team. She is also looking forward to finishing her Apprenticeship later in the year.
Thanks for sharing Sarah!
