Lyndoch wins national recognition for its Gender Equality work

Lyndoch Living has been awarded the Employer of Choice for Gender Equality citation by the national Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA).

WGEA Employer of Choice for Gender Equality citation is designed to encourage, recognise and promote active commitment to achieving gender equality in Australian workplaces.

Lyndoch CEO Doreen Power said the citation strengthened Lyndoch’s commitment to a diverse workforce.

“A diverse workplace leads to higher levels of creativity, innovation and organisation agility but it needs a real commitment and can take several years.

“Our Education Manager, Roselie Morey was Lyndoch’s champion to gain this citation. She is a passionate advocate for gender equality and is also driving our work to gain a Rainbow Tick. We could not have attained this recent citation without her focus and commitment.”

Doreen said the national Aged Care Workforce Strategy Taskforce’s report, released late last year, stressed the need for a diverse workforce to suit Australia’s diverse ageing population.

“With a predominantly female workforce in the aged care sector, we are focusing on challenging accepted stereotypes. We want to show the Warrnambool community that women can have a successful career without making any trade off when it comes to family. And men can have satisfying careers working in caring roles.

“Lyndoch’s Gender Equality Strategy will constantly evolve so we can implement innovative ways to promote gender equality in our workforce,” she said.

A record 140 WGEA Employer of Choice for Gender Equality citations were awarded Australia-wide in 2019.

When announcing the citations, WGEA Director Libby Lyons said that embracing workplace gender equality meant different things to different organisations.

“Every employer who is committed to gender equality embarks upon their own unique journey towards achieving the equal participation by women and men in their workplace,” she said.
