John is helping male elders find their sense of purpose. He left his engineering work and decided to use his skills to support male residents of the Riverside unit of Lyndoch Living. John then established and now manages as a volunteer the Lyndoch Living’s Lego Club, which brings male residents together to team-build complex constructions, improve social integration and maintain brain function and motor skills. They have constructed at least 15 Lego Technique models so far. The Club hopes to alleviate feelings of helplessness and amplify an inner sense of purpose for male elders.
