Meet Lyndoch Living’s Care Coordinator for Home Care Packages, Alexandra.
Alexandra describes herself as a caring and compassionate person with a desire to help others.
Growing up, Alexandra spent a lot of time with her grandparents and believes that being close to them sparked her interest in aged care.
In Year 11, Alexandra completed work experience in an Aged Care facility and loved it. After completing Year 12, she knew aged care was what she wanted to do, so she jumped straight into a Certificate III in Aged Care, Home and Community Care. Upon completion, Alexandra worked as a Personal Care Worker in residential and community care and spent time as a Lifestyle Assistant.
Alexandra decided she wanted to try something new and began working at a local pharmacy, picking up casual Personal Care shifts. However, it wasn’t long before she realised that she missed Aged Care. So Alexandra successfully applied for a position in the Lyndoch Home Care Packages team as a Care Coordinator.
Alexandra’s day consists of answering calls from community clients, assisting the Support Advisors, coordinating services and purchases for clients that help keep them safe and independent in their own homes.
Alexandra says she feels like she has accomplished something when she can make a difference to a client’s day.
“I just love working with the elderly, no matter what the role is. I love getting to know people and learning about what they have done throughout their lives. I recently met a 99-year-old client who is still as fit as ever, and we have a joke every time we talk. It’s what makes my job so amazing.”
Alexandra enjoys spending time with her family, friends, her two beautiful golden retrievers and travelling in her spare time.
