2018 Seniors Festival Celebrated with a Train Ride

  • 0

As a part of the 2018 Seniors Festival Celebrations 25 Lyndoch residents and 5 staff and volunteers set off on an adventure that some of them hadn’t been on in over a decade. As the work day was just beginning for most, these Seniors boarded the Melbourne bound train at Warrnambool Railway Station for a short trip to Camperdown. The ride took a little under an hour but was filled with sing-a-longs and a lot of laughs, to the delight of other passengers and VLine Staff.

When the group arrived at Camperdown Station they were met by the fleet of Lyndoch buses and ferried to the Lake Edge Cafe, Lake Purrumbete where they were served morning tea, a wonderful selection of cakes, scones and biscuits and tea and coffee, and taking in the beautiful spring sunshine and wonderful views across the glistening lake.  After their tea and cakes the happy group reboarded the buses to drive back to Warrnambool and home to Lyndoch where I have no doubt they will be smiling for days.

Thanks to our incredible lifestyle team for the organisation and coordination and the volunteers who assisted with support and driving the buses.
