Lyndoch Living announced today that it had acquired the May Noonan Centre, a 40-bed residential care home in Terang, previously owned by Mecwacare. The transfer of business will occur on 1 December 2018.
CEO Lyndoch, Doreen Power said Lyndoch was immediately interested in this acquisition when Mecwacare approached her earlier this year, as the May Noonan Centre was local, and had similar values to Lyndoch’s.
“I am pleased that we are able to welcome the May Noonan residents, staff and volunteers into the Lyndoch family before Christmas, as they will be able to join our festivities and take advantage of the terrific support Lyndoch enjoys in the region.
“We will not be changing their name, as it represents a proud 40-year history in the town of Terang. But we hope that they will grow to see themselves as part of the Lyndoch approach to the provision of meaningful, respectful quality aged care. I know their quality standards are good, so they will have a lot in common with the way we work with our staff and residents.”
Doreen said there would not be significant change in May Noonan services in the short term, although she will be talking to staff and residents about how Lyndoch can add more value to their lives, and share ideas of how we can work together.
“This will be a win-win for everyone. The staff will enjoy improved pay and conditions with us, and will have new employment options open up, as we can now move staff and residents across both locations if desired,” she said.
Doreen said May Noonan Centre did not represent a change in Lyndoch’s business strategy.
“We have been open to adding new businesses to our portfolio for some time. But we only consider additions where these are financially sound and fit into the Lyndoch values and vision. Currently we have no plans for acquiring other aged care facilities, and future opportunities would be assessed on their merits at that time.”
