Lyndoch Living has welcomed two positive decisions in as many weeks by the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission, with Lyndoch receiving government reaccreditation for the maximum three-year period following recent audits.
CEO Ms Doreen Power said in recent weeks the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission had confirmed that Lyndoch’s Nursing Home and Lyndoch’s Hostel had all achieved the maximum accreditation period.
“This great outcome is a tribute to our hard working staff, who have responded to the demanding government accreditation process while dealing with the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic,” Ms Power said.
“I cannot stress enough how grateful I am to our staff for the exceptional work they do every day.”
Ms Power said that, the commission had identified areas where the nursing home had not fully complied with five of the 42 requirements of the eight national quality standards. The commission also identified the hostel had not fully complied with seven of the 42 requirements of the eight national quality standards. The identified areas are low risk, and the commission is satisfied Lyndoch has taken steps to reduce the impact to residents as it undertakes continuous improvement to address the identified deficits in the delivery of care and services to residents.
Work was well advanced in each of these areas, and Ms Power said she was confident that the homes would be returned to full compliance quickly.
“Our work in implementing our continuous improvement program right across the organisation is ongoing, Ms Power said.
“Delivering the highest quality clinical and personal care is the most important thing to all of us at Lyndoch Living, and so these issues have been a major priority in recent months,” she said.
“We continue to put every effort into supporting our staff to deliver the highest quality of care. Staff have received additional training covering areas highlighted by the commission, including clinical risk, risk assessment and medication. In the last six months we have engaged 15 new registered nurses, and our recruitment campaign is ongoing.”
Ms Power said she welcomed the fact that the commission has not imposed formal sanctions or shortened the accreditation period of any of the homes, actions it takes where there are major concerns.
