Lyndoch Living team member Lilly has a desire for a career in nursing

  • 0

Meet Lyndoch Living Team Member Lilly.

Lilly describes herself as being a caring and compassionate person with a desire to help people. These attributes made Lilly decide to come and work at Lyndoch Living in the hope she’d gain exposure to what a career in nursing would look like.

Throughout her time at Lyndoch, Lilly has had various roles. Her current position is the Living@Home Meals Administrator, which involves coordinating frozen meals for clients living independently. However, Lilly expressed that she wanted to develop her skills further and gain more experience throughout Lyndoch. Because of her aspirations, Lilly was encouraged to participate in Lyndoch’s Fledgling Program. This 12-week program allows team members to move around the organisation and understand various roles within Lyndoch to assist in career development.

Lilly’s chosen areas for the program were Lifestyle, Personal Care and Case Management. In addition, she wanted to experience all different areas of nursing.

Lilly has enjoyed building relationships with the residents and being involved in Lifestyle activities such as cooking, games, bus trips and crafts. Lilly has also enjoyed observing the various daily tasks that Personal Care Workers undertake and believes she would enjoy this as a career.

Here is what Lilly had to say about her time in the program so far:
“Throughout the first seven weeks of the program, I have gained experience in many different aspects of Lifestyle and Personal Care Work. This has helped me discover the different ways that my desire to care can be utilised across the aged care sector.”

Lilly is looking forward to completing the rest of her program and can’t wait to see what other skills she’ll learn along the way.
