Meet Jill: Lyndoch Living’s creator of fun

Jill Jans - creator of fun

Shout out to Lyndoch Living team member Jill (pictured with Bev), who has been working at Lyndoch for over 16 years.

Jill initially worked at Fletcher Jones for nearly 20 years, and part of her package was free training. Jill knew exactly what training she wanted to do. From a young age, she had a passion for aged care, with many fond memories of visiting her Nan, whom she was very close to.

Jill commenced a Certificate III in Aged Care at SWTAFE, even buying a computer and learning how to type. It was a juggle for Jill, who was working full time and studying. However, the long hours paid off. Jill’s passion and commitment now see her working in a role she loves.

After leaving the retail industry and transitioning into aged care, Jill’s first role was as a Personal Care Worker. She is now a Lifestyle Facilitator and said, “this is the best job I have ever had. I just wish I had come into it earlier. And (with a laugh) who knows, I might end up back here! I know I will be well looked after.”

Jill finds her role very rewarding. Getting to know the residents and their families, listening to their stories and hearing tales about their lives makes every day enjoyable and different. Although a typical day for Jill is never the same, she plans and manages at least two meaningful activities each day. Jill is definitely seen as the “fun police.”

Thanks for caring Jill!
