Maddie’s Lyndoch Living journey began just over six years ago. Initially working at the Morris Road Fish and Chip shop and looking for a bit of extra income, she decided to put her years of hospitality experience to use.
“I really had no insight into what a career in aged care would look like, but I was excited to give it a go,” said Maddie.
She gained a position in Hotel Services which really opened her eyes to aged care. She loved seeing what the residents got up to each day and listening to their stories. But, it also showed her the endless job opportunities the industry had to offer.
After a while, Maddie stepped into a role coordinating the [email protected] Meals. While in this role, Maddie was inspired and decided she wanted to further her skills, and completed a Certificate III in Aged Care and Community Care.
On weekends Maddie did casual personal care work in the [email protected] team. Her hard work paid off, as she was soon presented with an opportunity to become the [email protected] Admin Assistant. This role really helped Maddie develop her community service knowledge.
Now the Business Supervisor of the [email protected] Program, Maddie manages 34 Personal Care Workers, three admins and has over 284 active community clients. Maddie’s role is different every day, and it’s what she loves about her career and the sector.
“I have always felt supported at Lyndoch, and I am very grateful that I have been able to grow and find my feet throughout the organisation.”
Maddie is the Secretary of the Warrnambool Gunditjmara Bulls Rugby League Club. She plays in the Women’s League in her spare time, and she is not far off from having her first baby!
Thanks for caring!
