Lyndoch Living team member Sue is our Cafe Connect Team Leader. She has been working at Lyndoch Living for almost five years.
Sue is a qualified Chef and has been in the industry since she was 16. After completing her studies, Sue worked at Brocky’s and Wines Patisserie for most of her career. This experience helped Sue build her fantastic cooking and people skills. However, after 12 years of working for the Wines family, Sue was ready for a change. She wanted to work somewhere that would see her out until retirement.
Sue’s three sisters were working at Lyndoch, and they encouraged her to apply for a role in the kitchen. That’s exactly what Sue did and hasn’t looked back. After commencing in the kitchen, she moved into Cafe Connect a few months later, where she has been cooking up a storm ever since.
Sue’s day starts at 6:30am to ensure lots of freshly baked goods are ready for the day. She then gets on the coffee machine, serving team members and residents their morning coffee’s, always making sure people are leaving with a smile. Sue’s favourite part is that she gets to laugh and have fun every day.
She loves the team she works with and the strong relationships she has built with the residents. Through her ability to easily connect and develop great relationships with people, Sue and the team are now learning how to crochet and knit with the help of Lyndoch Living resident Lyn Bruce. Lyn has been teaching them all the tips and tricks and sometimes fixing their mistakes!
Sue is well known for her bold and cheerful personality and her laugh that flows through the front of Lyndoch. However, she has also become renowned for her vanilla slice in recent years, even having visitors from the community coming in to try a piece! A few of her other specialities are date scones, savoury scrolls and of course, everyone’s favourite, the pav roll.
Thanks for caring Sue!
